Abraham’s greatest act of faith is his willingness to sacrifice his only son in obedience to God.  God is testing Abraham to prove his obedience.  There are many wonderful points to be made as we explore this passage.

• Abraham is fully persuaded that God will keep His promises of blessing his descendants through Isaac.
• Here also is a clear belief in the resurrection of the dead.  (Note Abraham’s statement in Genesis 22:5)
• This even forms a beautiful (intended) picture of what God will do with His Only Son thousands of years later
  • In a similar way
  • In a similar place
  • And He (Jesus) in similar obedience (as Isaac)
