In this chapter, Moses receives instructions for the building of the tabernacle articles. We will not only review the articles and their purposes, but also explain how these things speak of Christ Jesus.
In this chapter, God formally enters into covenant with Israel. Moses reads all the words of the (foundational) covenant; and the people affirm their acceptance and obedience to it. The covenant is then ratified by the sprinkling of blood on the altar (representing God) and the elders of the people.
This chapter deals with bearing false witness (e.g. is a system of justice/court); Sabbath rules; the institution of three national festivals; God’s promise to bring them into the Promised Land and the prohibition against idolatry.
This chapter deals with property rights: the right of the owner to be recompensed, the punishment to the thief and a deterrent against stealing.
Although Jesus was crucified and buried in a tomb, this was not the end for Him, but God’s glorious plan. Three days later the world experienced the greatest event in human history: Jesus rose from the dead!
After being handed over to the will of the Jewish leaders, Jesus is led out to be crucified. Being offered some type of analgesic, He refused and was hung to experience the full pain of crucifixion. He was mocked by passerby’s and the Jewish leaders. Finally, with a great cry He died. Supernatural events took place at the time of His death as many observed these events.
