Continuing from the idea of “heirs of the kingdom”, chapter 18 deals with the children of the kingdom. That is, all who would be in the “new” kingdom should be humble as children and be careful of how they treat the least in the new kingdom (church).
After the brothers returned to Joseph again for the third time, in tears he revealed that he indeed was their brother. They were taken aback and dumbfounded at his declaration. But, he commanded them to return to Canaan and bring his father and all of their little ones to him in Egypt so that he could provide for them for the remaining five years of famine.
As the time draws near for the promise of a son to be fulfilled to Abraham, he once again fails by his lack of faith. Nevertheless, God does not fail him and maintains His covenant with His imperfect servant.
The grace of God is without bounds. God is willing to forgive us for ANY and all of our sins. However, we rarely consider that there will almost certainly be negative consequences, sometimes lasting for YEARS. Let’s look at just how extensive the consequences for sin can be at the life of King David. | 2 Samuel 11-12
