After Abraham intercedes for Sodom and Gomorrah (namely his nephew Lot), the angels of God go down to Sodom and are only able to rescue a small portion of his family. Sodom and Gomorrah are destroyed and Lot’s family is rescued. However, although Lot and his family have been taken out of Sodom, Sodom was still in Lot’s family.
After Lot departs from Abram, there is a war of the kings in the Transjordanian area. Lot is captured and Abram is determined to save him. What will become of the promise (seed)? That is, what happens if Abram dies in battle? What does this say to the future descendants of Abraham?
Now that Abram has returned back to the Promised Land from his stay in Egypt, he discovers that God provides for him there. He repents and continues life with his wife and nephew Lot until there is disagreement about the land resources.
