After he was sold into slavery, Joseph became a slave in Potiphar’s household, where he noticed how that God made everything that Joseph did to prosper – a great benefit to Potiphar.  So, he made him the chief steward over all that was his.  Then Potiphar’s wife began trying to seduce Joseph into an immoral relationship, but he refused.  Spurned, she became angry and falsely accused him of attempted rape.  Potiphar reacted to her allegations by sentencing Joseph to prison.  In time, the chief jailer set Joseph over the affairs and inmates of the prison.  The pharaoh was displeased with two of his servants, the cupbearer and the baker and sent them to prison.  They both had dreams and Joseph interpreted their dreams.  The cupbearer would be restored to his post, but the baker would be executed.  Joseph therefore asked the cupbearer to plead his case before the pharaoh and get him released.  But, the cupbearer forgot him.
